Why we're building FormRift
The problem is everywhere
Walk into any operational site — a mine, a farm, a warehouse — and you'll find the same thing: notepads, checklists and carbon copies. Field workers fill them out. Someone carries them back to the office. An admin types them into a spreadsheet — sometimes days later.
Records get lost. Handwriting is illegible. Auditors find gaps no one noticed. And managers make decisions based on data that's already a week out of date.
This isn't a niche problem. It's a pattern repeated across every industry that costs companies thousands in rework, compliance penalties and operational blind spots.
Why existing tools fall short
Digital form tools exist, but most of them assume one thing: a permanent internet connection. That's a deal-breaker for the millions of field workers who operate underground, at sea, in tunnels, on rural sites, or simply inside buildings with poor signal.
When a digital solution breaks the moment signal drops, teams fall back on workarounds — and the cycle continues.
What we're building
FormRift is an offline-by-design field platform. Here's what that means:
- Forms work with no signal at all. Your team fills out inspections, audits and reports on phone or tablet — even in airplane mode. Data saves locally.
- Syncing is automatic. As soon as a device reconnects — Wi-Fi, cellular, satellite — everything uploads in the background. No manual action required.
- Managers see data in real time. A live dashboard shows submissions, completion rates and team activity as it comes in. No more waiting for field data to reach you.
- Security is built in. Every record is encrypted on the device before it leaves the field. AES-256 at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit.
Who it's for
Any team that captures data in the field. We're starting with the industries where the pain is sharpest — anywhere teams spend their days out of the office: inspections, surveys, audits, on-site collection. The platform is industry-agnostic — if you have field data to capture, FormRift can handle it.
What's next
We're currently in development and building the platform with direct feedback from field operations teams. If your company still relies on disconnected tools and you'd like to help shape what comes next, we'd love to hear from you.
